Round Table "Slavery and the Slave Trade in Cape Verde's History"

In 1998, UNESCO instituted August 23 as the International Day for the Remembrance of the Slave Trade and its Abolition, in honour of the victims of slavery and their struggle. To mark this day, the Cape Verde National Historical Archives holds, on that day, a round table on the theme Slavery and the Slave Trade in Cape Verde's History, bringing together national and foreign researchers dedicated to these subjects.

The event, coordinated by RESISTANCE's researcher José Évora (Uni-CV), will be also attended by Lourenço Gomes (Uni-CV), who will talk about the consequences of slavery for Africa, and Cândido Domingues (NOVA FCSH), with the communication Slavery and freedom: sources and possibilities of investment in the National Archive of Cape Verde.
