Seminar "Land, Water and Power in Colonial Cape Verde", by José Évora

Throughout history, the use of land and water has been a constant challenge, mostly in African rural societies, and especially in countries with scarce natural resources, such as Cape Verde. In the seminar “Terra, Água e Poder no Cabo Verde Colonial” (Land, Water and Power in Colonial Cape Verde), RESISTANCE researcher José Évora (UNI-CV) discussed the land panorama in Cape Verde using the Land-Water-Power trilogy, focusing on the islands of Santiago and Santo Antão, between the XVI and XVIII centuries. This seminar took place on October 4th at ISCTE-IUL as part of the cycle of seminars “New Perspectives in Modern History” co-organized by RESISTANCE partner ISCTE-IUL and coordinated by RESISTANCE researcher José Vicente Serrão.
